Crutches are very popular mobility aids that are used both by people who are in rehabilitation and permanent users with a lower-body disability. There are two main types of crutches- the traditional ‘underarm crutches’ that sit comfortable under one’s armpit, and ‘forearm crutches’ (sometimes called ‘Canadian crutches’) which have a cuff designed to sit around the persons forearm. Long-term users often find the latter type more comfortable for extended use, and sometimes buy higher-quality sets to increase lifespan of the product. There are also parts you can buy to repair ageing crutches.
